🇮🇳 India
As a sound/media artist, I produce large-scale installation and live performance, broadly dealing with contemporary issues, such as the climate crisis, migration, race, and decolonization. My practice questions the Anthropocene, socio-cultural mediation of the environment, and addresses the aspects of subjectivity, contemplation, mindfulness, and transcendence inherent in listening drawing on an Indian epistemology. I put an emphasis on the idea of presence and use intricate recording methods to develop an inclusive relationship with the environment. This process often manifests in the form of fertile auditory situations for critical as well as affective engagement with the cognitive universe sensed and recorded, both on media and in intangible memory. As an artist, I am an attentive and compassionate listener of the world, endeavouring to connect the disparate resonances across the borders and cultures through a practice committed to advocating for reciprocity and equality in the contemporary societies, situating myself as an inter-subjective actor in a global sensorium. Thus, my work intends to shift the emphasis from object to situation and from immersion to discourse in media arts.
